James Armstrong | James Armstrong was born in 1904. and was a resident of Delanco. He served as radioman aboard the Liberty Ship Esso Raleigh (AO-32), a Cimarron-class fleet replenishment oiler which sank on April 14, 1961 about 30 miles southeast of Boston in a heavy gale. The radio mast was damaged when the ship broke her back. James rigged an auxiliary antenna and sent the SOS.
